The special feature of the Porsche 993 and especially the Porsche 993 Carrera 4S
The Porsche 993 is the successor to the Porsche 964 series and the last model of the Porsche classic 911 with an air-cooled boxer engine. In the Porsche 993 Carrera, all-wheel drive was available as an alternative to rear-wheel drive in the Carrera 3 and Carrera 4S models. The suffix “S2” or “4S” indicates particularly well-equipped vehicles. It was possible to order performance-enhanced Carrera models (WLS) with 210 kW (286 hp) or 221 kW (300 hp).
The one built from 1995 to 1998 Porsche Carrera 993 4S was delivered from the factory with various special features compared to the normal Porsche 993 Carrera. The Carrera 4S has an automatically extending rear wing and it is equipped with the front apron of the Porsche Turbo and, like the Turbo, it is 6cm wider at the rear axle than the rear-wheel drive Carrera. Accordingly, the 4S has wider rear fenders. The Carrera 4S also has 18-inch wheels and the red Porsche Turbo brake calipers ex works. As with the Turbo, the indicator lenses are white at the front and red at the rear. The Carrera 4S also has massive side skirts.
Furthermore, some equipment elements are standard in the Porsche 993 Carrera 4S, which were only available at an additional cost in the Carrera, such as air conditioning, on-board computer, leather upholstery, electric seat adjustment, rear wiper, roof panel with integrated third brake light and sound package with cassette radio.
Compared to the Porsche Carrera, the Carrera 4S was built in relatively small numbers. For this reason, you usually have to pay significantly more for the Porsche 993 Carrera 4S than for the Carrera or Carrera S. A total of 6.948 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S Coupés were built and were factory-engineered models Porsche 993 Carrera 4S WLS with a 221 kW (300 hp) 3,8l engine, only 354 units were delivered.
