Very good technology, well-maintained checkered interior
The BMW M3 E30 is considered the epitome of the touring car of the late 1980s – a vehicle that was not only built for road use, but was specifically homologated for Group A racing. Shortly after its introduction, the E30 M3 dominated the action on the racetracks of Europe: With victories and titles in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), the European Championship, and numerous national series, it made motorsport history. Names like Roberto Ravaglia, Johnny Cecotto, and Steve Soper are inextricably linked with this car—as is the unmistakable sound of its S14 engine, which revs up to high revs and pushed the boundaries of what was technically feasible at the time.
The heart of the E30 M3 is the legendary S14 four-cylinder engine, a high-revving powerplant with individual throttle bodies or flat slide valves, a carbon airbox, and dry sump lubrication in competition engines, which produces up to 235,36 kW (320 hp). Its precise throttle response, linear power delivery, and durability made it a favorite of many racing teams – and even today, thanks to these qualities, the BMW M3 E30 is still used in historic racing classes such as the Touring car legends or the Youngtimer Trophy At the same time, the M3 E30 is one of the most stable and sought-after classics of its era: a vehicle that can be found in collections all over the world – not as an exhibit, but as a driving homage to the great era of analog motorsport.
This BMW M3 E30 was first registered in February 1989 and features a Diamond Black metallic finish with a fabric interior in an overcheck design. The S14 engine produces 143 kW (195 hp) and delivers the unmistakably precise driving feel that made the M3 E30 one of the most popular sports models of its era.
The vehicle was imported from Switzerland in 2012 and has had two German owners since then. With a mileage of 184.403 km (last oil change on August 17, 2024, at 182.956 km), the car is in above-average technical condition – the engine, transmission, differential, and chassis operate smoothly and without any abnormalities. The interior is very well maintained and reflects the careful use over the years.
The body shows some minor rust spots and signs of wear; we're happy to send detailed photos upon request. Overall, this is a solid, honest M3 with impressive technical features and a strong foundation for future upgrading or restoration. Detailed photos of the underbody can be found here. Here.
